This course is designed with a view to develop skilled manpower in the field of public health. With the launch of NRHM, a great demand has emerged for human resources having practical knowledge of newer and appropriate technology conducive to the changing trends in rural and urban health care delivery. WHO report on health 2006 has also warned about a shortage of health manpower in the developing world in future due to global migration.


The objective of the course is to facilitate professional human resource development having overall competence in all related fields of health, hygiene, sanitation, nutrition, communication, basic clinical care etc for providing quality health care in community, to enhance their knowledge & skills in application of MIS for improved record keeping, reporting etc for the purpose of community health needs assessment ,disease surveillance, monitoring and evaluation and to develop supervisory and managerial abilities of health workers for effective implementation of various health programmes at community level.

Paramedical personnels from Central /State /Local Health Services & from NGOs (Regd. At least for 3 yrs) having graduate qualification with Degrees from recognized University (UGC recognized) in the disciplines of Sociology, Health and allied Sciences, Social Work, Psychology, Statistics, Home Science, Dietetics, working in the field of Health in following capacities:

  • Health Assistant Male and Female,
  • Lady Health Visitor
  • Health Supervisors
  • Sanitary inspector,
  • Health inspectors
  • Laboratory Technician
  • Medical Social Workers
  • MPW- Male and Female
  • Block Extension Officers
  • AYUSH Providers
  • No. of Seats. 45 per batch


    One year


    The course is to be affiliated to International Institute of Population Science (IIPS), Deemed University, Mumbai. The Direct grading system of University Grant Commission (UGC), New Delhi is to be followed for examination of this course.


    Students will be assessed through continuous classroom assessments and also by periodic and terminal Tests on Theoretical, Practical, Viva Voce, Journal Work, Case Studies, Report writing, presentation and Project Works.
