Dr. Deepak Raut, Director NIPHTR

National Institute of Public Health Training and Research established in 1957 started as a Central training institute for training of doctors, nurses and paramedics in Family Planning.

Over the years its scope and reach has expanded to become a national level institution running a flagship program of Diploma in Health Promotion Education (DHPE) affiliated to IIPS (Deemed University). We have also completed nine batches of Diploma in Community Health Care (PGDCHC). Thousands of Students nationally and internationally have been trained by NIPHTR. Health manpower trained by us representing entire country has significantly contributed in achieving the health for all and MDG’s specially reducing under-five mortality, maternal mortality and HIV/AIDS.

During the tenure of Dr. Deepak Raut as a director for last 3 years period we endeavored to achieve excellence in teaching, training and research in Public Health and started many initiatives with new training courses, workshops, observance of International Health days and opening of Yellow Fever Vaccination center for passengers traveling to endemic countries. Skill development programmes have also been started at the institute where in a one year programme for training sanitary inspectors has already started this year.

In order to meet the objectives of the National Health Policy 2017, we envisage to implement various Skilled based capacity building training programs for medical & non-medical graduates to assist in Universal Health Coverage to facilitate achievement of Sustainable Development Goals.  New activities will need more infrastructure and manpower and we are happy that MoHFW, GoI, sanctioned Rs. 20.0 Crore in FY 2017-18 for starting civil work at the second Campus at New Panvel.
